Statement of Faith

Who We Are

We are Daniel and Rebecca Butler, missionaries to Brazil. We realize your time is extremely valuable, and we thank you for taking time to read about our ministry. With so many other missionaries out there sharing their burden for their field, we feel that knowing our beliefs rather than just our field will give you the greatest insight into who we truly are.

Our home church and sending church is Parkside Baptist Church in Mesquite, TX. Our church is known world-wide for being an old-fashioned, fundamental, independent, KJV only, soul-winning Baptist church.  Our church and pastor, Dr. Mike Wells, guides us, but it is our personal beliefs and walk with God that have led us into this new journey.

We believe the King James Bible to be our guide book. We believe it to have a literal interpretation good for all generations.

We hold to the belief of one God, infinite in knowledge, power and presence. He reveals Himself directly to us through prayer and His Word. He manifests Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit - the Holy Trinity.

As the Son of God, He was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life as both fully God and fully man. He died without sin of His own, only the sin placed on Him from all of mankind. He died to make intercession between man and God the Father.

The Holy Spirit was sent as a Comforter to understand the Word of God, build our personal walk with God, and exhort us. We do not hold to the “Charismatic Movement” nor the gift of tongues as evidence of the Holy Spirit.

Man is born with a sin nature with a destination of Hell, if that sin is not paid. Man must voluntarily accept this sin nature, and receive Christ as Saviour to go to Heaven.

Salvation isn’t earned, but is a gift paid for by Christ’s death on the cross. It is not merited by good deeds or baptism. Salvation can be given when our sin nature is accepted and understanding it will send us to Hell. Only by faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ can we go to Heaven.

The church is an ordinance put in place during Christ’s ministry. It is an assembly of the believers. The church is to be independent of any associations, as it was established to be a local , autonomous church. The pastor is the guiding shepherd that leads the sheep according to Scripture and God’s leading. Deacons are elected to aid the pastor in his duties. The church’s purpose is to aid the people in fulfilling the Great Commission and disciple individuals.  Its two ordinances are baptism and the Lord’s Supper.  Baptism is only acknowledged by churches of like faith when done after receiving Christ as your savior and it is done through immersion.  The Lord’s Supper is closed to members of that church and is done as often as the pastor feels led.

We now await on the second coming of Christ. He will then receive believers who have died in Christ and those are alive and remain. After the rapturing of the church, the great tribulation period will begin (God’s judgement of the earth). This will make way for the millennial reign of Christ, Satan’s ending in the lake of fire, Israel will be restored, and God’s promises to His children will be fulfilled.

We hope this has given you a glimpse of our hearts and standards. We always wish to bring honor and glory to our Savior. Our burden for the people of Brazil is growing every day. Through your church and other churches of like faith, we hope to make our way to Brazil fast so as to help the people even sooner.

In His Service,

The Butlers
